Miriam Zell (18) is the youngest Steward at the assembly
What are you doing if you are not working as a Steward at the assembly?
Miriam: I’m about to start the 13th grade, my last year of high school in Como, Italy. Other than studying a lot, Latin and Ancient Greek especially, I love music and ballet, alongside, of course, helping with projects for my church whenever I can.
What do you like most at this assembly ?
Miriam: My favorite part has been how much I’ve learned about the different protestant denominations and the enriching conversations I’ve led with the participants, from delegates and members of the Council to fellow stewards: being able to share faith, music and laughter with people all over the world has been nothing short of riveting.
What did surprise you?
Miriam: Knowing that I would be among the youngest participants as well as one of the few that doesn’t study theology, my fear was that I would feel out of place. Instead, I found myself within the best and most welcoming group of coworkers I could’ve asked for, and the friendships developed within just a few days with the other stewards have been incredible.
Was something remarkable?
Miriam: Of course! I’m very grateful to be in a team I feel very comfortable and productive in, so even work has been part of the fun. Besides that, I’m really enjoying being part of the choir and music group by playing the cello, while still having the time to go out for a drink with my new friends in this mesmerizing city after a long day of work.
What´s your message to the participants ?
Miriam: My humble message to the participants of the General Assembly is that I think it’s important to find peace and calm in what might seem like a “storm” of stress; after all, the reason we’re all here is not only work but communion, faith and hope. However those things might look for you and whichever background you come from, finding a common ground from which to grow together is what I’ve personally found to be the core of this experience.
