General Information

This General Assembly is the 9th General Assembly of the CPCE and calls 96 Protestant churches from Europe to Sibiu/Hermannstadt in Romania. Its motto is: “In the light of Christ – called to hope”. It seeks to bring hope into a darkening world; a hope that is based on the experience of the Holy Scriptures.

At the invitation of the Protestant churches in Romania, delegates, experts, observers, ecumenical, local and special guests as well as representatives of partner organisations will meet between 27 August and 2 September 2024. They will join the members of the organising team, the press and the stewards. All in all, over 250 participants will form a large community. A packed [schedule] awaits the delegates during these days. Theological texts will have to be adopted, future fields of work defined and a new Council will be elected for the next six years. Nevertheless, there will also be time to get to know the region and the local people.

All of this is based on the biblical call to fellowship, as well as the pulpit and communion fellowship agreed upon in the Leuenberg Agreement. To this end, the Assembly is organised according to high ecological standards and regulated in accordance with an ethical code of conduct.

The CPCE is grateful for the partners who helped with the organisation and for the support that made the meeting possible in the first place. It is wonderful to see how this community is appreciated beyond words!

You are welcome to join us! You can be there on site as a day guest or online via livestream. You will also have access to the documents of the plenary session, as well as to photo and film material that will be produced during this time.

It’s going to be an exciting time!
