Tuesday [27 August]

The first day of the General Assembly

The registration points in the Assembly area will be open from 12:50. All participants are expected at the Brukenthal Gymnasium (Sibiu, Piata Albert Huet no. 5) by 16:30 to register for participation. Here you will receive a badge, headphones, information, the necessary materials and more.

The assembly area is located right in the centre of Sibiu, the Protestant parish church is visible from afar, so you can’t miss it!

The service with communion starts at 5.00 pm sharp in the church, opposite the registration centre. The seats in the church will be marked by name for delegates, and there will be designated areas for other participants. The opening sermon will be preached by the Executive President of the CPCE, Dr John Bradbury. The churches that have joined the CPCE since Basel (2018) are now solemnly welcomed.

The opening plenary session then begins at 6.30 pm. The delegates and other participants remain seated for this. The pews are equipped in such a way that each pew has a folding table so that it quickly becomes a work table. The working method of the plenary assembly is now voted on here.

The Evening of Encounter will start at 19:45 – with dinner – in the General Assembly area. It will be organised by the CPCE’s South East Europe Group. This will also emphasise the regional context in which the General Assembly is taking place. Dignitaries and friends from Romania are expected to attend. The greetings will be short and few (!), but dialogue will be encouraged.
